Imagine there’s a guy who is really sneaky, walking around a small town, shooting ten people every day. Usually not fatal, but precise enough that out of those ten three or four will have complications for their whole life. Once in a while enough so that someone dies. And because he’s so sneaky, it’s impossible to see where and when he’ll strike next.

Would people still shrug and just go out and make fun of people who think that staying inside might be a better idea? What if we’d get told that a bullet-proof vest would lower the chances of getting hurt, would people just shrug and say it’s an inconvenience?

I think after 2020 we all know.
